Hotel Chocolat
Luxury British chocolatier and cocoa grower, Hotel Chocolat, arrived in the Channel Islands in late 2010.
The first Hotel Chocolat store opened at the new Liberty Wharf complex, St Helier, Jersey on Tuesday, 2nd November and was closely followed by the launch of a store in Guernsey in the Commercial Arcade, Guernsey on Saturday, 6th November.
Founded 15 years ago by Angus Thirlwell and Peter Harris, Hotel Chocolat was established with one goal in mind – to make a better type of authentic chocolate available to UK consumers.
Starting as a catalogue-based business, an award-winning website soon followed and in 2004 the first of 50 Hotel Chocolat stores appeared on the UK high street, along with additional stores in the Gulf and United States.
Authentic, wholesome ingredients are the foundations of Hotel Chocolat’s success, and its position has been further strengthened by its purchase and restoration of a cocoa plantation in St Lucia. Hotel Chocolat supports the St Lucian cocoa growers through its unique ‘Engaged Ethics’ programme and the results of its extensive cocoa research are evident in the fine chocolate range which is exclusive to Hotel Chocolat stores.
Hotel Chocolat was recently awarded Emerging Retailer of the Year by the influential publication, Retail Week, and has been selected as one of the UK’s prestigious ‘Cool Brands’ for four years running.
