Costa Coffee opens a second outlet in Guernsey
Today, the much anticipated new Costa Coffee outlet opens in St Peter Port in Guernsey.
Costa Coffee, the largest and fastest growing coffee shop brand in the UK, opened the new 61-seater store in Commercial Arcade on the former site of Chaud Lapin.
SandpiperCI first introduced the Costa Coffee brand into Guernsey at their Admiral Park store in September last year. The outlet — the first of its kind in Guernsey — proved an immediate success.
SandpiperCI, CEO Tony O’Neill said, “We were always confident that Costa Coffee’s first class brand status would be a success in the Channel Islands. Within the first few days of opening our store in Admiral Park, our customers were asking for another in St Peter Port. We have been looking for the right site for some time and Commercial Arcade has the advantage of being a pedestrian precinct enabling us to introduce an alfresco area.”
It is believed that the success of Costa Coffee in Guernsey is due to its firmly rooted heritage in serving coffee the Italian way. It is the market leader in the UK with more than 750 stores providing authentic coffee and bakery products.
The St Peter Port Costa Coffee now employs eight staff, all of whom receive Barista training at Costa’s highly regarded academy in the UK.
