SandpiperCI checks into Hotel Chocolat

SandpiperCI are bringing the luxury British chocolatier and cocoa grower, Hotel Chocolat, to the Channel Islands. Hotel Chocolat will open in Commercial Arcade, St Peter Port in July and in Jersey’s Liberty Wharf later in the summer. Nine new staff will be recruited across the two islands.

The successful brand first opened its doors in 1993 and operates more than 41 stores across the UK as well as other stores in the Gulf and United States. Authentic, wholesome ingredients are one of the foundations of the company’s success, and its position has been further strengthened by its purchase and restoration of a cocoa plantation in St Lucia. Hotel Chocolat supports the St Lucian cocoa growers through its unique ‘Engaged Ethics’ programme and the results of its extensive cocoa research are evident in the fine chocolate range which is exclusive to Hotel Chocolat stores.

The founders Angus Thirlwell – who’s parents live in Jersey – and Peter Harris were passionate about re-establishing the reputation of British chocolate so founded what was to become Hotel Chocolat in 1988 with a simple goal – to make a better type of chocolate available to UK consumers.

Originally a web and catalogue business, in 2004 the first of many Hotel Chocolat stores appeared on the UK high street with the advantage that customers could smell, see and taste the quality products before buying.
