Safeway Jersey completes refurbishment

The States Economic Development Minister, Senator Alan Maclean will cut a ribbon tomorrow morning (Thursday) to mark a £500,000 refurbishment of Safeway in Jersey. SandpiperCI carried out an extensive survey to identify customer preferences and the major refurbishment, carried out in recent weeks included internal and external refurbishment, new livery, improved aisles and displays and a reversal of traffic direction in the car park to aid entry and exit.

SandpiperCI CEO, Tony O'Neill said: "Despite the current climate we continue to invest in our retail estate. Safeway went through a low point some years ago when the former owners purchased it from Morrisons. However, I'm delighted to say that the store is now growing in popularity as customers seek value for money in these difficult economic times."

Store manager, Carl Naughton said: "The refurbishment has taken place in planned phases negating the need to close. Customers have already made favourable comments about the brighter, more spacious feel about the store and we look forward to offering an even better service in the future."

Local firms - with the exception of nationally experienced sector specialist companies - were used to carry out the work, ensuring local businesses have benefitted from the newly refurbished Safeway.
