National Trust Jersey
On a glorious afternoon in fields near La Mare Wine Estate, under the supervision of National Trust volunteer Ranger Josh, the team was set to work to maintain some of the National Trust's 30 miles’ worth of hedgerows.
Maintaining hedges
The sun must have really lifted the spirits, as the team powered through many fields! To give the hedge plants the best opportunity of developing into mature plants, they used sickles to remove weeds and grass from the base of the plants. Once completely developed, the hedgerow will help clean up our environment by absorbing CO2 from the air and serve as a “wildlife corridor” for birds, animals, and insects.
Support local
It’s always fantastic to support such important local initiatives, as well as being a brilliant bonding experience for everyone who volunteered. Great work team!
