Monthly charity round-up June 2022

June has been a very rewarding month for us, with lots going on from supporting local Platinum Jubilee events to collection boxes and charity walks. Below is our round-up of charity donations for the last month.

Dress down friday donations to JAAR

A massive well done to the SandpiperCI Finance team who raised £200 for JAAR (Jersey Action Against Rape) from their 'dress down Fridays' event. JAAR is an independent and confidential service helping people recover from the trauma of sexual violence.

The South Atlantic Medal Association Channel Islands hosts a garden party

This year marks 40 years since the Falklands conflict. To mark the occasion, whilst raising funds for those suffering from this conflict, the local service community hosted a dinner party on 18th June. The Guernsey Lieutenant Governor supported this event. Hotel Chocolat kindly donated a chocolate hamper for their raffle.

St Ouen's Jubilee event

St Ouen's hosted a family fun day for parishioners in the village green. The event included a bouncy castle, craft stalls, a food quarter, live entertainment and static displays. To help support this event, we donated tea and coffee for their hot drinks stall.

St Peter's Youth Club Queen's Jubilee Summer fete

On Saturday 25th June, St Peter Youth Club hosted their Queen's Jubilee Summer fete to help raise funds for activities and equipment for young people who attend the club. Iceland St Peter kindly donated two teddy bears as raffle prizes, along with £40 worth of bottled products for their bottle stall.

Bailiff's Ukraine Appeal film theme night

On Thursday 23rd June, a film themed night was hosted in order to raise funds for the Bailiff's Ukraine Appeal. We donated 72 bags of popcorn for the audience to enjoy at the interval.

Family Nursing & Home Care 'Have a break, have a Kit Kat' campaign

We were happy to donate 200 Kit Kats to Family Nursing & Home Care's 'Have a break, have a Kit Kat' campaign. Community Nurses are usually too busy to take a lunch break and will keep working until they see all their patients. This campaign is to encourage their staff to have a break. They gave each staff member one Kit Kat to remind them it’s okay, in fact, better for them and their patients, if they take a break.

Brightly collection boxes

The Brightly collection box at Checkers Xpress First Tower raised £44.80 and the one at Morrisons Daily Queen’s Road raised £16.94. These funds will go towards supporting children and young people aged from newborns up to 25 years, who are under the care of Children’s Social Services.

Samaritans Jersey stall at the Jersey Boat Show

One of the chosen charities at this year’s Jersey Boat Show was the Samaritan’s Jersey. On Sunday 12th June they had use of the Barclays stall where they had the 'how do you feel?' game set up. People could pay a small fee to choose an emotion/expression for a chance to win. Wine Warehouse at Benest was pleased to support this by donating a case of Prosecco.

Island Walk - 18th June 2022

We were happy to support this year's Island Walk by donating 3 large tins of coffee and 2,000 tea bags to use at the checkpoints. The main walk started at 3am at the Elizabeth Terminal at the Harbour, where participants walked 48.1 miles around the island. Well done to everyone who took part!

Rock Fitness White Collar Boxing in aid of Macmillan Jersey

We were pleased to support the charity White Collar Boxing event on Saturday 25th June by donating towards their raffle. We had two prizes up for grabs: a cider gift set and a gin gift set.

Cancer Research golf tournament

On Friday 10th June, Cancer Research held their golf tournament at the Royal Guernsey Lancress. Morrisons Daily St Peter was pleased to donate items for a food hamper going towards their raffle.

Grouville School Summer fair

On Friday 24th June, Grouville School held its Summer fair to raise funds for the KS2 library makeover. Iceland Grouville were are delighted to help by donating cartons of drink for this event.

St. Anne's School Alderney Jubilee event

Le Cocq's Stores were delighted to help support St. Anne’s School Jubilee celebrations by donating a selection of cakes. The theme was red, white and blue, and we made sure that the cakes donated matched the patriotic theme.

Island Hall Alderney Jubilee event

In Alderney, the community held a drinks party at the Island Hall to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Le Cocq's Stores donated £70 worth of drinks to this event.
