The Sandpiper Striders - meet the team
The first of our two relay teams was made up of our Food Retail Operations Director, Andrew Holmes, and Adriana Bornman our Director of Commercial Finance who shared the half marathon distance between them. Nicky Boarer our Deputy Company Secretary and Duncan Peddie, Food Retail Area Manager made up our second relay team, offering some healthy competition between the two teams. Finally, Beth Edwards, Merchandiser, completed the full distance as an individual runner. The teams have worked hard, putting in many hours of training prior to the event. We are very proud of the commitment and dedication they have shown to raise money for a very worthy cause.
About Jersey Hospice Care
The local charity takes care of anyone with a life limiting illness and explains; "We recognise and respect that each person is unique and we therefore offer a holistic approach - which aims to help people get the personalised care they need, make the most of what time is left, and ultimately, to help each person live life to the full. Everyone cared for at Hospice is supported to die pain free, with dignity, and in a place of their choosing." As a business we have an ongoing charity partnership with Jersey Hospice Care, which is a charity close to our hearts. We have multiple activities and events planned across the year to raise vital funds for this phenomenal charity.
Race day
Our Sandpiper Striders showed grit and determination successfully completing the half marathon. Many of our colleagues came to show their support on the day, creating an incredible atmosphere and helping to motivate the team until the end. Now nursing their sore legs and having a well-deserved rest after raising an amazing £1,700 for Jersey hospice care, our team have hung up their trainers for now. But keep your eyes peeled for our Sandpiper Striders who plan to strike again soon!
