Morrisons staff donate Easter eggs to local community food banks

Mini eggs and daffodils for International Women's Day

The women in our workforce received a well deserved thank you earlier in the month. In recognition of International Women's Day (IWD), each wonder women got a beautiful bunch of daffodils, some scrumptious mini eggs and a thank you card. Sandpiper is all about girl power with females leading the way across all aspects of our business. We aim to build workplaces that elevate visibility of women and provide a culture where women thrive through challenging and rewarding roles coupled with training and support.

Wall of Inspiration - IWD

Our Portchester-based Buying team celebrated IWD with a unique activity of female appreciation. Not only did each female in the team receive a lovely bouquet of flowers, but they also celebrated one another with an “inspiration wall”. This wall was flooded with positive affirmations and comments about each other, all left anonymously.

Easter Egg Donation Station

Morrisons Daily CI and their eggs-tremely generous customers were busy bunnies this Easter, donating Easter eggs towards food banks in both Guernsey and Jersey. More than 100 Easter eggs were donated, split between Grace Trust Jersey and Guernsey Welfare Service (GWS). Both charities put the eggs to good use and Sue Le Friec, GWS Co-Ordinator commented "Thank you so very much for the donation of Easter eggs - we will ensure they go to families who will appreciate them". We would like to thank all our customers who aided with this fundraiser by donating chocolatey treats, as well as the staff at Morrisons St Ouen, Five Oaks and Perelle.

Hospice 2 Hospice Half Marathon

Our Sandpiper Striders showed grit and determination successfully completing the charity marathon in aid of Jersey Hospice Care. The first relay team, Andrew Holmes (Food Retail Operations Director), and Adriana Bornman (Director of Commercial Finance) along with the second team, Nicky Boarer (Deputy Company Secretary) and Duncan Peddie (Food Retail Area Manager) each tackled the race as a pair. Our solo runner Beth Edwards (Merchandiser) finished the half marathon by herself! For more details on this story click the link below.

Donations to the community

At Sandpiper, we're all about keeping it local and as such we support many of the requests we receive from local charities and initiatives each month either with monetary gift vouchers or donations of stock. Some of the recipients this month were; Headway Jersey, Guernsey Kidney Patients Association, Island of Jersey Scouts and fundraisers for the Battle of Flowers. Easter Egg Hunt - Autism Jersey

Ready, set, hunt! We donated multiple eggs to an Easter egg hunt in aid of Autism Jersey; a charity dedicated to the assistance and support of people on the autism spectrum. Morrisons Daily CI and Marks and Spencer Jersey stepped up to donate 12 large eggs, boxes and boxes of Cadbury Creme eggs, and a variety of other choccies ready for the Easter bunny to hide on the big day.

Here at Sandpiper, we aspire to be a thriving, profitable and responsible company that cares about its colleagues, customers, the environment and the local communities it serves, which is why we help a variety of charities, including our charity partners; Jersey Hospice Care, Rowans Hospice in Southeast Hampshire and Les Bourgs Hospice in Guernsey.
