Monthly charity round-up June 2023

What a month it has been! June has been filled with countless opportunities to give back to our community and make a positive impact. We are thrilled to share a round-up of all the incredible charity donations and activities that took place during this very rewarding month.

Matalan clothing donation to Jersey Hospice Care

Matalan Jersey donated an entire pallet of clothing items to Jersey Hospice Care, comprising of a mix of sizes and styles to cater to everyone's needs. Kidswear, womenswear and menswear clothing items were all generously contributed, as well as homeware too. Matalan's Manager, Debbie Taylor, ensured that the donation arrived at the Hospice in a timely and well-organised manner. Debbie even went the extra mile to help load the van, demonstrating first-hand her dedication to making a difference.

Finance cake sale for Jersey Hospice

The cake sale, organised by our Finance department, in aid of Jersey Hospice Care, was a great success, raising a grand total of £154. Additionally, the generous contribution of £150 from this month's dress-down Friday money added to the fundraising effort, resulting in a combined total of £304.

National Trust Volunteering at Sorel Point

With National Trust volunteer Ranger Josh leading the way, the team accomplished the remarkable task of clearing the bracken to benefit our beloved Manx Loaghtan sheep. Despite enduring the sweltering heat, they persevered and successfully filled eight bags while creating a fresh grazing area for the adorable sheep.

M&S donation to Phillip's Footprints

Phillip's Footprints, a local charity dedicated to supporting parents coping with the loss of a baby or child, benefited from a generous gesture from M&S who contributed a set of nine white dressing gowns for utilisation within the Special Care Baby Unit.

Cancer Research Guernsey Flag Days

Morrison Daily St Peter's and L'Islet stores were delighted to extend their support to Cancer Research Guernsey during their flag day collection. Cancer Research Guernsey successfully raised an impressive total of £5,939.96. Our stores played a significant role in this achievement by contributing an incredible amount of £656.48.

St Saviour's Church Revel 2023

We were delighted to offer our support to St Saviour's Church Guernsey by granting them permission to sell raffle tickets outside Morrisons St Peter's for their highly anticipated 2023 Revel event. Their dedicated team successfully sold all the tickets on the day, resulting in a remarkable £500 in proceeds. The Revel itself proved to be a resounding success, generating a grand total of just over £12,000 in donations. This impressive sum exceeded last year's collection by an incredible £1,000. We are proud to have played a part in contributing to the growth and success of this important community event.

Guernsey Mental Health Ward Raffle Donation

Matalan Guernsey happily extended their support to their local mental health ward by generously donating two cushions as prizes for their raffle. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful cause, aiming to make a positive impact on mental health within our community.

Ivy Trust Guernsey raffle prize donation

The Ivy Trust, a charity based in Guernsey, provides vital support to parents who have experienced the loss of a baby during pregnancy. Recognising the importance of this cause, Hotel Chocolat eagerly stepped forward to offer their support by generously donating a chocolate hamper to be used as a prize in The Ivy Trust's raffle.

Jersey Hospice Moonlight Walk

On 10th June, a group of more than 50 walkers from around the business came together to participate in the Moonlight Walk, a charity event organised to support Jersey Hospice Care. Their collective efforts resulted in an impressive fundraising total of over £650! Well done to all who took part.
