Sandpiper Bake off for Jersey Hospice

Decisions, decisions…

With over 15 entries on the day, we were absolutely spoilt for choice with an array of delicious bakes! From classics like Lemon Drizzle and Victoria Sponge, to some more experimental desserts such as a Coconut Trees and a gorgeous Carrot & Orange cake. Every bite was heaven, and luckily not a soggy bottom in sight! Everyone was then encouraged to vote for their favourite and nominate who, in their eyes, was the Star Baker!

Our Star Bakers!

In 3rd place we had the lovely Estela (right) and her Coconut Trees - light and fluffy whilst still packing a punch! Her prize was a lovely gift set from Marks & Spencer featuring some Percy Pig themed prizes; a tote, mug and a the iconic blondie kit! In 2nd place was Dorota (left) with her gorgeous traditional Polish cake, Pychotka - not only was it delicious but also technically challenging! With layers of creamy custard, pastry and crunchy meringue, it was a lovely combination of textures and flavours! She received a lovely gingerbread making set from Matalan, including an adorable apron and cookie cutters!

Our winning baker was Lillian (above, middle) with her "dark and dreamy" Guinness Cake - talk about ticking all the boxes! Her flavours were perfectly balanced, and the lovely touch of the Irish shamrock on the top really stood her out from the rest! 1st place prize was a brand new iPad donated by the lovely team at local tech company Logicalis. Congratulations Lillian, you deserve it! In total we were able to raise over £250 for this incredible local charity - thank you to everyone who participated and donated as this would not have been possible with you!
