We were really proud to have taken part in the Jersey Skills Show 2021 face to face and virtual event this year.
It was great to be able to be in the hall at Fort Regent on Friday meeting the teachers and students from secondary schools across the island. Although a much smaller event by far due to current restrictions it makes all the difference to be able to talk to people about the benefits of a career in retail here in Jersey.
Colleagues from across SandpiperCI came up to join the team at Fort Regent and really made our SandpiperCI stand come to life. It is so important that we interact with children and young adults at this stage in their education so that they can understand the opportunities that are available to them on their island in retail and it’s not just putting beans on shelves!
We decided to make the students work for their sweet treats this year as they were quizzed on what skills they think they could bring to retail and tested on their interview techniques. They were then able to pick a raffle ticket with winning tickets offering prizes from Percy Pig Merchandise, festive foody favourites & various brand vouchers to be used in all our outlets. We also really wanted to recognise the teachers at the skills show this year so the students were asked to nominate a teacher who had been outstanding, supportive and fun and they could then come and meet us at the stand to collect a teachers prize!
As always thank you to the Skills Show team and everyone at Skills Jersey for the opportunity to be part of this event and showcase retail and SandpiperCI on the island and thank you to everyone who came to meet us on the day!
